Summertime Reading Enchantment
Summertime is Reading Adventure Time! Photo: Izzy, TreeHouse Apprentice and LadyJane's niece. Summer 2021
We love Summer for so many reasons. Biking, hiking, swimming, camping, making art, and having time to be adventurous and silly. But our favorite reason is that there is more time for reading our favorite books when we need to just chill out under the shade of a tree!
For toddlers, try Pippa and Pelle in the Summer Sun or What's Hiding in There? both by German author Daniela Drescher.
Some of our favorite picture books about nature for older kids are by local Ashland authors:
Coral's Quest by Zoe Williams
Song of the Redwing Voice of the Wetlands by Tish McFadden
Middle grade readers might enjoy some of these exciting graphic novels and chapter books:
The Funjungle book series by Stuart Gibbs Funjungle #01, Belly Up
Be Prepared - Graphic Novel by Vera Brosgol

Wings of Fire Series, by Tui T. Sutherland Wings of Fire #01, The Dragonet Prophecy
Song for a Whale by Lynne Kelly

YA books are especially savory in the summertime. Here are a few of our top picks:
Graceling Realm series, by Kristin Cashore. The 4th book, Winterkeep, was released in 2021 after a long wait!

Here's TreeHouse co-owner Dirk Price. His mother Julie said "Go and play outside" and here is Dirk "playing".
